Luxury & Super Yacht Service
If your super yacht or motor yacht is 24 metres or more in
length for commercial use, we have a dedicated service to ensure you have the
correct, up-to-date charts and publications onboard to comply with your Flag
State Regulations and the SOLAS Convention.
Summary
As the Captain or Navigation Officer of a Super Yacht, you
will want to ensure the safety of your vessel, owners, passengers and crew by
having the correct charts and publications onboard for the intended voyage,
corrected to the latest Admiralty Notices to Mariners.
Collaboration between members of the Red Ensign Group (REG), which includes the UK, and the industry as a whole has led to the creation of a new yacht code. The REG Yacht Code, which was launched on 13 November 2017 at the Global Superyacht Forum in Amsterdam, has taken into account all the expertise gained across almost two decades of regulating the large yacht sector since the Code of Practice for the Safety of Large Commercial Sailing and Motor Vessels, or LY1, was published by us in 1997. In its new format, the Code is made up of two parts with common annexes - such as for over-side working systems, sailing vessels and helicopter landing areas. It will keep the familiar format of the existing REG codes while being more dynamic to industry change and development.
The REG Code combines the existing Large Yacht Code version
3 and the Passenger Yacht.
Ensuring you have the latest editions of charts and publications onboard, and correcting these important sources of navigational information is a time-consuming business, particularly when your yacht has a busy and complicated voyage plan.
Todd Navigation, an International ADMIRALTY Chart Agent, can help by providing you with all your chart and publication requirements, together with the means to organise your charts and publications, and keep them up to date. We will look after all your requirements, wherever you are in the world.
First Steps
Following an initial enquiry from a Super Yacht, we will
request information from you to determine the scope of services you require
from us. Your requirements will be based on your operating area(s), anticipated
voyages, type of charts used (paper or electronic or both), publications
(Admiralty or Imray or both), digital publications, and types of updating
services required.
Your solution may depend on the Flag State of your vessel and its requirements. We can help you decipher the legislation. We have an excellent team of experts to assist, including our Managing Director William Todd, Master Mariner, and Brian Miller (Royal Navy retired), Digital Products Manager. We understand that the ultimate navigation package is different from yacht to yacht, and with our experience in conjunction with your needs, we will arrive at an agreed navigational resource for your vessel.

Chart & Publications Outfit Management Service
We provide continuing global support for your navigational resources onboard from the time of the initial supply of charts and publications to a vessel, or when we take on the management of your existing charts and publications. We provide new editions of these automatically, usually at intervals of one month, or dictated by you, or your vessel’s port rotation. This service is most beneficial to Super Yachts which operate in a fixed area.
An added benefit of our Outfit Management Service is the Weekly Chart Correction List. Charts and publications can be active or inactive (sleeping); inactive products do not have new editions supplied.
Also we ensure your vessel has the updated and legal charts and publications, from British Admiralty to IMO, ITU, OCIMF, Chamber of Shipping, etc. If your vessel is on a particular voyage we can limit the Outfit Management Service to only those charts and publications necessary to the safe and statutory operation of the ship.
Each vessel receives a laminated Outfit Management Supply Certificate and inventory binder, which can be shown to Port State Inspectors/Class Surveyors if necessary. The certificate lists the services we have agreed to supply. It is renewed annually, together with a copy of the vessel’s current inventories.

Paper Charts &
Publications
Todd Navigation is an International
ADMIRALTY Chart Distributor appointed by the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office
(UKHO), and is one of the leading Chart Distributors in the UK and Ireland.
We
offer a worldwide coverage of fully corrected British ADMIRALTY charts via
Print-on-Demand (POD) and an extensive selection of nautical books and
publications from the UKHO, International Maritime Organisation (IMO), ITU,
International Chamber of Shipping, Brown, Son & Ferguson, Shipping Guides,
OCIMF, Witherby, etc.
We are also a
Premier agent of Imray, the leading supplier of charts and cruising guides
specifically designed for yachtsmen. Paper charts continue to form an important
part of many vessels’ navigational resources, despite the increasing adoption
of electronic charts in ECDIS systems for day-to-day use.
Paper charts offer
a backup system that can be used in the event of ECDIS failure on board a
yacht, as well as being better suited for discussing and planning itineraries
with yacht owners and guests.
Electronic Charts &
ECDIS
As an International ADMIRALTY Chart Agent, we can supply
your vessel with the ADMIRALTY Vector Chart Service (AVCS). Electronic
Navigation Charts (ENCS), when supplied through AVCS, are official government
charts, and as such meet SOLAS carriage requirements, when used in a type
approved ECDIS.
We manage your ENC holdings through ADMIRALTY Fleet Manager and
provide a superior service for the supply of permits for new ENCs at short
notice. Along with ADMIRALTY quality and unrivalled coverage, you’re also
assured of the most up-to-date information available. Automatic updating comes
as standard with no additional cost via the internet.
The ADMIRALTY Information Overlay (AIO) and worldwide
Temporary and Preliminary Notices to Mariners ensure that all your digital
charts are kept up to date electronically.
